Come dicono in inglese la notizia è arrivata completamente “out of the blue” – inaspettata, come un fulmine a ciel sereno. J. Cole ha deciso infatti la notte scorsa di regalarci musica nuova mettendo in free-download un EP intitolato “Truly Yours“. Il progetto contiene 5 tracce che per motivi discografici e per la scelta del rapper non sono entrate a fare parte della tracklist del secondo album in uscita di Cole, ossia “Born Sinner“.
Questo è quanto si legge nella nota ufficiale di J. Cole: “It’s time. I appreciate you giving me the time I needed to grow, experiment, and find the direction for my 2nd album. And I have. Along the way I’ve recorded at least 4 albums worth of material, lots of it being unfinished demo versions waiting to be polished up, some of them are great songs and important stories that just won’t make the album (either they don’t fit Sonically, don’t fit Theme, or there’s just not enough space) . Tonight, I want to give you a few of these songs because you deserve them. It’s hard as fuck for me to keep all this music from you for so long, so I know it’s been hard for you to wait. Thank you for your patience. Vibe out to these songs in their raw form, no polish.. just a lot of my soul.. The wait is over.”
Le 5 tracce sono quindi materia pura e prima, uscita diretta dall’animo del rapper che descrive più volte il suo forte desiderio di voler condividere al più presto il nuovo album. J. Cole ha annunciato che questa settimana dopo “Miss America” uscirà un secondo singolo di preview e che il disco si trova veramente nella fase di ultimazione, dopo il rinvio della release ufficiale del 28 Gennaio scorso.
